Havelock Christian Church
Christina intends to raise $1,200 for next years school band trip. She has asked for our help.
The Board approved scholarships for all youth wanting to attend church camp at Kamp Kaleo, to pay for half of the cost of registration. See the March Newsletter for further information on camps, dates, and costs
April 9 - Saturday
- Movie: "Coach Carter" at the Starship 9 theater, 1311 "Q" Street. Meeting time approximately 3 pm at the theater.
- In a brief review afterwards, we asked what this movie was about. Danny had one of the best answers, "Respect". Seven of our group attended.
March 30 - Wednesday
- Bowling. Hollywood Bowl, 920 N. 48th Street. 1 pm.
- Seven young people bowled two games each and had a great time. Guests of the youth were also invited. Cupons provided by Hope Bickford defrayed much of the cost so bowling was exceptionally reasonable.
March 20 - Sunday
- Participated with Zone youth in celebrating Purim at the South Street Temple. Event hosted by Southview CC. Arrived: 6:30 pm., returned about 9:00. Purim Carnival is a celebration recalling the saving of the lives of Jewish people living in Persia by the faithful acts of Esther. A melodrama telling the story in a rock and roll venue was presented.
- A fantastic experience......definitely need to do it again. 31 youth plus sponsors participated - Bethany, Southview, East Lincoln, Havelock, and Elmwood churches represented.
February 20 - Sunday
- Create Tsunami health-relief kits.
- Study new lesson: "Can I be a CHRISTIAN without being weird?"
- Begin listening to and evaluating messages in modern Christian music.
February 12 - Saturday
- Eugene Mahoney Park near Ashland.
Snow sledding, crafts, tower climbing, ice skating, snack bar, maze, simulated rock climbing.
